NiTi Rotary Files Frequently Asked Questions

Q: How much are the files you sell with the Break-R-Way file upgrade?
A: All of our files are sold for $12.50 per file - FREE Shipping & Handling.

Q: Do I need new equipment or an expensive starter package to use the Break-R-Way files?
A: No, you don't. You can use your existing hand piece to operate our NiTi rotary files upgraded the Break-R-Way. Then let the Break-R-way file remove the fear and hassle of file breakage/separation so you can work faster & safer!

Q: What RPM is the optimum to operate the files at?
A: With fear of separation removed... increase cutting speeds to 500 rpm. You want to work the files aggressively.

Q: Where is more info on the Break-R-Way patent?
A: To read more about the patent on the Break-R-Way NiTi rotary file upgrade, please click on these pages...
"Title: Rotary dental file having a safe breakage point" & "7198486 Rotary dental file having a safe breakage point".

Q: What is the NiTi Rotary File upgrade?
A: The upgraded NiTi rotary file is designed to separate at a predetermined location 1mm to 2mm from where the shaft meets the handle of the drill allowing for maximum ease of removal. This rotary file upgrade allows you to work faster & safer knowing that the file is easily retrieved plus it may be used over & over again.

Q: When did you start clinical trials?
A: Having Ni-Ti rotary files modified to optimum values allowed clinical trials to begin in January of 2004. It was pleasantly surprising that the majority of Ni-Ti commercially available rotary files are suitable for modification. Without as much fear of file separation, a crown down technique was no longer "absolutely set in stone".

Q: How do I retrieve a separated file?
A: Needle holders are usually the best instrument choice to use. If you can grasp the shaft perpendicular you can often leverage against the remaining tooth structure. Otherwise, remove rubber stopper, grasp the shaft parallel and use an outward and counterclockwise motion(s).

Q: How many times can I use your file?
A: With fear of separation removed... just "use it until it breaks". Of course after autoclaving it should be given close inspection before reuse.

Q: What if the file becomes dull?
A: With fear of separation removed... if a dull file does not want to cut; "just push hard".

Q: Do I still use hand files?
A: Yes, a recommended technique is to establish a W.L. measurement as quickly as possible. Use hand files as needed to do the initial shaping to a size 20 hand file. Finish the case by aggressively using Break-R-Way NiTi rotary files and additional hand files as called for.

Testimonials

Duane,

When rotary Ni Ti instruments first came on the market, I thought that they'd be a great way to make endo better, easier, and faster for the patient and the doctor. Unfortunately, the issue of file separation deep in the canal was worse than what I thought the manufacturers stated. Even with only 1 use, as the manufacturers are recommending, some of these NiTi's would and, can still, separate in the canal. So, like many other dentists I quit using them because of the added stress, cost, and failure to meet the promises made.

After reading about your concept of a groove that would allow the NiTi to be used without fear of separation in the canal, I tried your rotary NiTi's. I deliberately used them with a lot of pressure to see how they'd perform. As you stated, if they break, it's high up on the shaft near the handpiece and easily removed with hemostats or needle holders, like a Gates. These NiTi's deliver the promises of better, faster, easier endo. For me there is now less concern of separation deep in the canal with your NiTi instruments than with stainless steel hand instruments. And, since they can be used till they do break, they are cost effective. Please keep me posted on any new developments.

Thank you,
